If the world was about to explode and the space ship that was going to save you was about to leave and you had room for one record and 10 seconds to rescue it from your (vast) record collection of with the purpose of taking with you to save for future generations of mankind on a distant planet, this is the record you would HAVE to take. Unarguably the finest two step mellow groove ever made. Awe inspiring vibes captured in one single thin groove of this piece of plastic. Ever since playing this track every week to the appreciative dancers at the Sunday night Africa Centre sessions in the mid 1980's I still have not found a record that comes close to the magic that this record creates on every play. Perfect in every way: lyrics, vocals, arrangement, B-Line, groove, mix, vibes. Give Me The Sunshine is the quintessential mellow groove. All others can only bow and pay their respects.
If the world's about to blow and you are about to make your escape. Make sure this record goes with you!. From the moment the needle hits the first beat you know you're in for a treat. One of the greatest mellow grooves of all time which ranks right up there with my all time favourite, Leo Sunshipp, 'Give me The Sunshine'. Sweet uplifting vocals build and build over a blend of magically syncopated rhythms and beautiful orchestration. Spine tingling soulful heaven.
'Don't dog me' is very Prince like. 'Revival' and 'Love to love you baby' are a modern sexy and penetrating way of singing like Donna Summer. I could go on and describe every track, but I think you now have an idea, and even I compare a lot Martine to other artists, don't think that she is just copyin them. Formed in 1991 by Eric Hilton and Fari Ali, Exodus Quartet sought to recreate the sound of Washington, DC's Exodus acid jazz club. Their only album, 1996's Way Out There, featured many guest musicians and was released following a plethora of compilation appearances.

For those who own this rare slice of independent wax on the obscure and little known Get Down label you get the added bonus of the instrumental. Just close your eyes and be transported to another world. As the opening lyrics say 'Sends a chill down my spine'.
